About Us

Group-shot-1.jpg

DBKA was formed in 1919, when the Rev. Montague Yate Allen, Mr J Claxton and Rev. G.H. Hewison joined  together to form the present Doncaster District Beekeepers Association.

We are a group of approx. 100 members.  Most are beekeepers others are partners etc.  We usually hold our winter meetings on the second Tuesday of the month.  Our meetings are held at the Community Hall, 20 Church Lane, Armthorpe Doncaster DN3 3AG at 7pm.

We normally start the new season with a meeting in September, AGM in October, Honey Show in November, and hold a Christmas Dinner in December. We try to have speakers at our meetings in February, March, April and May. During the summer months we often meet at one of our Members apiaries to look at the bees (usually followed by a picnic). We also have a summer outing.

We hold courses for new beekeepers in the spring but places are limited and always in demand.

We also run a Library and stores.  Our stores hold limited equipment for sale (frames, foundation, jars, lids, buckets, Apiguard, foundation & other items) via our stores.  These items are available at favourable rates to our members.

We have lots of books and a few videos & DVD’s which may be borrowed for a small charge each month. (Currently £1) Gill brings some books to our meetings but has a list of others which she will bring for you (if ordered) to the next meeting.
